Ghosts that Haunt Me

I autographed a copy of Under a Sunlit Sky yesterday and was reminded of one of my favorites.

“Ghosts that Haunt Me”

Turned up my collar
In a cold November rain
Stepped out for a walk…
Thinking it would ease the pain
The ghosts of what I had done
Gather like the grey mist of night
I took a cab to nowhere
Distance doesn’t shake the sight
A hundred miles away
I gaze at the Moon and Stars
I dream about days lost
Days wasted, days broken
In the dark of night
The past it haunts me
And the light is so far away
In the dark of night
The past it haunts me
Haunts me, yes, it haunts me
Now my dreams are shattered
I’ve been told so many lies
Thinking of what I held
My heart, it slowly dies
A thousand miles away
I gaze at the Moon and Stars
I dream about love lost
Love wasted, love broken
In the dark of night
The past it haunts me
And the light is so far away
In the dark of night
The past it haunts me
Haunts me, yes, it haunts me
