Did you know that, as a young man, this Nigerian poet and novelist moved to England to study literature. When funding for his scholarship abruptly fell through, he found himself homeless and desperate. Okri channeled this frustration into his writing, leading to the publication of his first novel, Flowers and Shadows, a couple of years later.
