For multiple reasons, our patients are not allowed to have food or drink from outside of the hospital. Two visitors tonight did not know that. These well-meaning ladies– one a nun– brought in several items. Upon hearing the rules they generously offered me the chocolate. I graciously declined, stating that, while I would love it, I did not need it. They kept pressing the issue.
Upon leaving they insisted and I relented, saying, “You’re a nun. Aren’t you supposed to lead people AWAY from temptation?”
They laughed and, again, insisted.
I said, “Okay, but if I gain weight, it’s God’s fault.”
We all laughed. It was a nice way to end an otherwise really bad day.
Racheal later asked me if I wanted any cookies. I said, “No, thank you. I have my God Chocolate.”
