Introducing the Poetic Visions greeting card line

Hello, my name is Wolf. I am addicted to the camera.

It might sound like the beginning of a 12-step meeting, but I think of it as a wonderful gift- the gift of creativity and expression.

I believe that photography is poetry to the eye, and I started seeing photo opportunities around ever corner. I have my talent with the written word, but just as the saying goes, a picture truly does say a thousand words. I am always inspired by my close friends, graphic artists Matt Busch, Alex Buechel, Bruce Gerlach, and Paul Michael Kane. So, I was struck with the idea to fuse my words and my pictures into inspirational artistic expressions that could be shared with the world in different ways.

As I delved further into the field of professional photography, my subject matter started to shift a bit. I absolutely love nature photography- and that still makes up a large portion of my work. However, I didn’t want to just take artistic and colorful shots of nature’s beauty, but to capture moments in time- the myriad people, places, and events around us that we walk idly by as we hurry along, our minds consumed by our own lives.

The strangers- those people that we walk by every day. The dog licking up a fallen ice cream cone on a hot summer day. The two young lovers sitting on a roadside bench as the fall leaves flutter in the breeze around them.

With the release of my Poetic Visions photography collection last year, I wanted to expand the project to be so much more. As of this moment I have almost 400 art gallery images for sale in my bookstore, and I had ideas slowly building in the back of my mind, gathering like storm clouds on the horizon- and I could hear the thunder roll. I had the book, but what if I made a wall calendar using the images? Or greeting cards? The ideas washed over me like a cooling summer rain and I felt refreshed and alive. Poetic Visions was on its way to becoming a growing line of products meant to inspire, or simply bring a smile to someone’s day.

I debuted the Poetic Visions wall calendar in October at the Witches Bazaar event and even raffled off one as a door prize at the annual ballroom function that closed out the night.

I started reworking some of the images from the book into greeting cards, and off to the side I had little quotes, quips, and inspirational sayings that I had been randomly sharing on my official Twitter and Facebook pages.

The cards themselves were one challenge; building the webpages was a whole other can of worms. I built my website myself- both the main site and the bookstore- using an intermediate knowledge of HTML. So the challenges to getting the cards up and looking good, not to mention easily purchased, was something that took far longer than expected.

But…

There are 8 main categories right now, and more cards will be added as I create them. There are, I hope, enough to chose from for an official launch.

When you hover your mouse over a card’s thumbnail a tool tip will appear showing the text that is included on the inside. Clicking on the thumbnail launches a window showing a larger view of the chosen image.

All of the pre-designed cards are set at $1.99 each (far less than Hallmark) and you can customize them with the person’s name. For bulk items, such as holiday cards, you can order a box of 25 cards for $29.99. That’s almost half off, folks!

What’s more, I have added a new choice that allows you to request any image in my 400-item photo gallery be made into a custom card and your own custom text for only $3.99. A box of 25 of those is only $50!

So it is with great pleasure (and relief) that I can officially announce to you the launch of the Poetic Visions greeting cards!

Visit the card section of the bookstore today at http://bookstore.deepforestproductions.com/greetings.html

Shop around the other sections as well. There’s still plenty of time to order some awesome gifts for anyone on your list.

Happy Holidays to One and All,
